It's not the patriarchy, it's the 1%

Linda Hirshman at the Atlantic says the problem with combining jobs and family is not women versus men, it's the 1% desperately trying to stay there.

It's the predictable and unavoidable result of the increasing inequality of the American economy. The chasm between the 1 percent and the rest is so deep and so life-defining that people will do anything to stay in the 1 percent.

She makes the point that men have fought hard battles to avoid long hours and overwork, it's not just women. So framing the work/family problem as anti-feminist is derailing.
